The Indian singer and vocalist tragically took her own life, with her body discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her living room.
Vijay Lakshmi, also known as Mallika Rajput, reportedly committed suicide at the age of 35. Her lifeless body was found on Tuesday at her residence in Uttar Pradesh, suspended from a ceiling fan in the living area.
According to Indian media sources, Mallika’s mother, Sumitra Singh, expressed shock at the incident, stating that she was unaware of when her daughter took this drastic step. Singh mentioned that the door to the room was shut, but the light was on. Despite multiple attempts to open the door, they were unsuccessful. Eventually, upon peering through a window, Mallika’s mother spotted her daughter hanging.
After failing to receive a response, they were compelled to break down the door, only to discover the singer’s lifeless body suspended from the fan.
The Bhati Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and have sent the body for post-mortem examination. Shri Ram Pandey, the officer-in-charge at Kotwali police station, indicated that the incident appears to be a case of suicide.
Mallika Rajput was recognized for her work alongside Kangana Ranaut in the film “Revolver Rani,” directed by Sai Kabir. The movie also featured actors such as Piyush Mishra, Zakir Hussain, and Pankaj Saraswat, alongside Veer Das.
Additionally, Mallika appeared in Shaan’s music video “Yara Tujhe” and was known for her proficiency in Kathak dance. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2016 but parted ways with the party within two years.
